TGPLAN Project
For the second semester of the Class of 2017's sophomore school year, students were asked to Think Globally, Plan Locally, and Act Neighborly, or TGPLAN. In groups of five, students were tasked with choosing a global issue that effected us locally, and trying our hands at advocating for and helping to curb the global issue.
Our group composed of Jack Powers, Nik Sherril, Averie Boles, Ariston Awitan, and Jack Norman, decided upon the major global problem of Deforestation.
Our decision to research and help to stop Deforestation was simple.
After visiting Costa Rica with AGS in January, our group realized that Deforestation was an increasingly dangerous problem not only in Costa Rica and other Central American countries, but also in Austin.
After researching and meeting with experts on Deforestation, we realized we wanted to do our part in Austin.
